![]() ![]() ![]() I always feel that horror writers have a tendency to go into too much detail about their various dreadful creatures. ![]() Part of what makes Emily Carroll’s collection of short stories so mesmerizing is that she uses very simple language to convey a sense of dread and suspense. I’m already on the prowl for more graphic novels like this one. Needless to say, I’ve been thoroughly hooked. I’m well versed in the world of horror films, novels, and podcasts, but Through the Woods represents my first foray into the world of horror-themed graphic novels. From the time I was very young, I’ve been drawn to the dark and scary things in life. I have a strange love affair with the macabre. Written and illustrated by Emily Carroll, she invites us to take a walk through the woods, but beware of what we may find in the darkness. This graphic novel consists of five eerie short stories, all centered in some way around the woods and the terrors that lie within. ![]()

Ok- I would like to add, though (after all my complaining), how sweet it was of the author to make this available to us for free. Now, I didn't let this stop me, of course, because I am obsessed with Broadbent's books, but I frfr just wanted a paperback on amazon. I had to give some random website my email (which I hate doing) and download the book from there. Whoops □.Īlso, the method to getting this book was a bit sketchy. I think if I cared more for Max's character I would be more intrigued but I'm finding that I just don't care for his back story all that much. I'm a fantasy author who has a penchant for telling wild tales. Now, I know more is coming, but I can already tell that I am going to be yawning. Daughter of No Worlds: Broadbent, Carissa: 9780998461939: Books - Amazon.ca. I know I shouldn't be expecting that from a prequel but I did and now I am disappointed. ![]() I did like learning more about Max and some of the other characters, but I wanted some spice, some interesting action (not just your average battle that idgaf about), and I didn't really get that. This was pretty boring, I'm not going to lie. ![]() |
